Holidays: Oct. 22nd - 28th
Patrick LaClair, Saturday October 21st, 2006Here at Overdue Karma, we celebrate life everyday (no, really, we do!) but here are some excuses for you to cut loose and take a day off from work this week:

October 22nd:
Although it may be redundant, this Sunday is another day (other than President’s Day) when we can celebrate our nation’s leader. That’s right, it’s National Nut Day! I can only conclude that’s the purpose after a lengthy search turned up no information on America’s nut. My best leads point to either the Pecan or the Peanut. As we all know, the Peanut is not actually a nut, but rather a legume. As for the Pecan, no nation would voluntarily select such a repulsive edible as its patriotic nut.
October 23rd:
Monday is Sweetest Day. It’s not a day that is particularly sweet; after all, it is a Monday. It is rather a day to celebrate the sweetheart in your life. It was originally a day for the privileged to give sweets and small gifts to those less fortunate. Now it is just another day for candy, as usual. The day is struggling to compete for popularity with a similar holiday in February.
October 24th:
On Tuesday, National Bologna Day coincides with United Nations Day. I wonder what kind of message this is supposed to send. Is the UN a powerless coalition which is no doubt seen as bologna by other nations? Is United Nations Day bologna? Is this whole comparison bologna?
October 25th:
Wednesday is “Punk for a Day” Day. That’s right. It’s time for you to get that tattoo of a snake curling through the eyes and mouth of a skull. You know who have always wanted one. Just be careful you don’t choke yourself with that studded collar now.
October 26th:
This Thursday has nothing more to celebrate than... mules. But let’s do just that. Mules are the most dependable slaves the human population has ever had. This is mainly because they are infertile and have no gender. Without a sex-drive, family, or opposable thumbs, they are pretty much bound to carry us up and down the Grand Canyon for all eternity. Thank you, Mules!
October 27th:
So I was browsing the internet, looking for holidays that occur on Friday, the 27th of October. I took a break and made a sandwich which was cool. When I came back, I found that Friday is “Tell a Story” Day! I was so excited! Uh, yah, then I found $5 in my pocket.
October 28th:
Well, Saturday has rolled around again and it’s time for a break... But wait! Saturday is “Make a Difference” Day! You need to go out and help your neighbors! If you’re feeling motivated, then go have fun with that. If you are like me, you will wait until your neighbors come to help you.
Until next week – Have a blast celebrating life!
