Here at Overdue Karma, we celebrate life everyday (no, really, we do!) but here are some excuses for you to cut loose and take a day off from work this week:

October 16th:

Monday is Dictionary Day. It is the ameliorated day to fissure your lexicon glossary and explicate your palaver. Subsume regalement and matriculate some cognition on Dictionary Day!

October 17th:

Tuesday this week is “Wear Something Gaudy” Day. If you don’t know the significance of “gaudy”, you could look it up in your dictionary on Monday. Then you can proceed to join the ranks of Liberace and Elton John and the likes. Tuesday is the day for everything sequined and sparkly. Don’t forget the excess bling!

October 18th:

Wednesday is “No Beard” Day. My first instinct was to guess that this holiday was created to allow wives and significant others to force their man into shaving. However, I did a little research and it turns out that this holiday was made by men themselves. It was not so much against men’s beards, but women’s beards. You know the type. Just that little bit of hair on the upper-lip. Ugh, gross.

October 19th:

Thursday, October 19th is “Evaluate Your Life” Day. I searched the internet, but was unable to locate an applicable rubric. I really don’t know how you are supposed to go around evaluating your life. I defiantly think it worth of more than a day, even a week might not be long enough. But ironically enough, October 19th has the highest suicide rate of any other day besides Christmas.

October 20th:

The work-week ends this Friday with Brandied Fruit Day. I have never even heard of brandied fruit before, so I can attempt to even make any jokes. Because of a spelling mistake, however, I had visions of oranges being marked by cowboys with red-hot irons.

October 21st:

Saturday is “Count Your Buttons” Day. I did not think I needed a whole day to count my buttons, but as it turns out there are a lot more than I thought:

-A typically thin, small disc of hard substance, attached to a piece of cloth by stitches sewn through holes in its centre.

-Objects that, when clicked once, cause something to happen.

-A round flat badge displaying information and suitable for pinning onto a garment.

-A female sexual organ homologous to the penis.

-A wide collar on the oar that prevents the oar from slipping through the oarlock.

-A small usually clear amount of molten glass placed on the “working end” of the art piece project to assure proper connection of the glass to the pipe to avoid dropping damage.

-The rounded, immature stage of a mushroom with a cap, before the cap has expanded.

-The swollen endings of the axon branches, which synapse on the postsynaptic cells. And lord knows there are a lot of those!

That’s all for this week! Check back again next Sunday!
