About Us

About Our Site
Overdue Karma is a monthly e-zine that publishes original, funny, and thought-provoking materiel.  Our aim is to entertain and enlighten our readers, with articles ranging from light-hearted anecdotes to serious political pieces.  We do our best to remain unbiased, and indiscriminately make fun of everybody.  We've also got a web comic, which is always good for a quick laugh, and a forum, which is a great place for socializing and more serious discussions.  We encourage you to read a few articles (the "Most Read" articles are usually also the best -- though not always) and sign up to recieve our fine publication in your e-mail every month.

About Our Staff

  • Josh Lee
    Webmaster, Co-Founder
    josh@overduekarma.com
Josh is our resident hippy, woodsman, and computer geek.  It's a strange mix for sure.  Contact Josh for technical questions about the site, typos, link requests, and questions about sleeping bags.  Josh has a habit of dissappearing into the woods for months at a time.
  • Patrick LaClair
    Editor in Chief, Co-Founder
    Pat@overdueKarma.com
Pat is the only (somewhat) consistent contributor of articles.  He's also the editor in chief and creative genius behind Overdue Karma.  Complaints about content would be sent to Pat, but really... what is there to complain about?
  • John Clinton
    Writer
John contributes articles once every blue moon, and is the writer for the web comic.  If the comic hasn't been published in a while, rest assured that John is at least 50% at fault.
  • Jon Watson
    Artist
Jon draws the comic.  He takes the other 50% of the blame for the comic not being published.
  • Holly McKelvey
    Columnist
She's blonde, female, and from the west coast: pretty much the opposite of the rest of us, bringing a new voice to the ODK table.

Our History
In August of 2006, Pat began sending out e-mails containing funny anecdotes to all of his distant friends.  Josh read one (which later became the article about Gnocchi) and replied, telling Pat that he should somehow publish his funny stories.  "But How?" the two friends wondered.  A blog would be so completely conformist and unoriginal, and so the site began as a not-blog, like the buddhist "self" and "no-self".  The not-blog needed a name, and Pat set his creative juices to work.  The story of the name is chronicled in the first article (The Science of Spit).  Slowly, more writers and contributors were dragged into the not-blog, making it more of a magazine.  An electronic magazine.  An e-zine.  Enjoy!
